Disqus WordPress Widget Plugin

Today I made my baby steps in PHP (yuck) and I hacked up a Disqus WordPress Widget Plugin. It can be found here, where you will find the download and the same information as below.

Description

This plugin adds a new widget which can show statistics for your blog’s/forum’s Disqus comments: most popular discussions, top commenters, recent comments.

Installation instructions can be found in the readme.txt file and a working sample you can see in my sidebar on the right.

Configurable are:

  • Color Theme
  • Number of items to show
  • Default tab view (most popular discussions, top commenters, recent comments)
  • Whether to show the standard Wordpress widget title bar
  • Title of the widget in the title bar

  • Such a great posts and I find Disqus a very good commenting plug-in. You can always check back your comments because Disqus compiles all your entries...so, it's easier to see and follow your comments..

  • Nice plug-in. I like Disqus, and your plug-in really improves some of the functionality. Looking at the comments, it appears that it doesn't matter what version of Disqus you are running? I'm a little confused as to how that works?
  • It's just a wrapper around - http://disqus.com/admin/tools/ . It queries the information from disqus directly.

  • I was just wondering if this would work for the latest version of disqus?
  • The plugin, which is just an easy to use wrapper for a http query, is independent of the wordpress plugin, so it will work. In fact you should be able to display stats from anything that uses disqus (not just wordpress) if I understand correctly.
